14 days Annapurna Circuit Trek Overview

The Annapurna Circuit Trek/ Annapurna round trekking is one of the most famous and diverse treks in Nepal. This 14-day journey takes you through a wide range of landscapes, from subtropical forests to alpine deserts, providing stunning views of the Annapurna Annapurna range, Tilicho peak ,Manaslu, Pisanfg peak and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The trek also offers cultural experiences as you pass through traditional villages inhabited by Gurung, Manangi, and Thakali communities.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,593ft)


  • Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, trek preparation, and briefing.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule (840m/2,755ft)

  • A 7-8 hour drive through scenic landscapes.
Day 3: Trek from Bhulbhule to Chamje (1,410m/4,626ft)

  • Trek through lush forests and terraced fields.
Day 4: Chamje to Dharapani (1,960m/6,430ft)

  • Cross suspension bridges and climb uphill through rhododendron forests.
Day 5: Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft)

  • Trek along the Marsyangdi River, enjoying views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.
Day 6: Chame to Pisang (3,300m/10,826ft)

  • Walk through dense forests, and pass by apple orchards.
Day 7: Pisang to Manang (3,540m/11,614ft)

  • Gradual ascent with panoramic views of Annapurna III, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak.
Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Manang

  • Rest day to acclimatize with optional hikes to nearby viewpoints.
Day 9: Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m/13,484ft)

  • Trek through high-altitude terrain, passing small settlements.
Day 10: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,600m/15,092ft)

  • Gradual ascent towards the base of Thorong La Pass.
Day 11: Cross Thorong La Pass (5,416m/17,769ft) and trek to Muktinath (3,800m/12,467ft)

  • The toughest day of the trek, with a long ascent followed by a steep descent.
Day 12: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m/8,923ft)

  • Trek through the Kali Gandaki Valley to Jomsom.
Day 13: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara

  • A scenic flight back to Pokhara, followed by relaxation by Phewa Lake.
Day 14: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu

  • End of the trek, transfer to the hotel, and farewell dinner.
Best Time to Trek

  1. Autumn (Late September to November):
    • Weather: Clear skies, moderate temperatures, minimal rain.
    • Views: Excellent visibility of mountain ranges.
    • Crowd: Peak season, so trails can be busy.
  2. Spring (March to May):
    • Weather: Mild temperatures, blooming rhododendrons.
    • Views: Clear, with colorful landscapes.
    • Crowd: Moderately busy, especially in April.
Avoid:

  • Monsoon (June to August): Trails are slippery with frequent landslides and leeches.
  • Winter (December to February): Extremely cold, and Thorong La Pass may be closed due to heavy snowfall.

Permits Required

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): Required for entry into the Annapurna region.
