A budget-friendly weekend in the Blue Mountains is very doable, you just need to plan a bit smart around transport, stays, and activities.

First, getting there is easy and cheap if you take the train from Sydney to Katoomba. It’s scenic and saves you the cost of driving and parking. Once you’re there, most of the main viewpoints like Echo Point (Three Sisters), Scenic World walking tracks (some areas outside paid rides), and Govetts Leap are free or low-cost.

For accommodation, Katoomba and Leura have plenty of budget motels, hostels, and Airbnb rooms. Staying slightly away from the main tourist strip usually brings prices down even more. Food-wise, local cafés and bakeries are affordable if you skip the high-end restaurants. Packing snacks for hikes also helps keep costs low.

The best part is that hiking trails like the Prince Henry Cliff Walk or Wentworth Falls tracks are completely free and give you the most iconic views anyway.

So overall, you can easily do a full weekend in the Blue Mountains without spending much, just focus on nature, walking trails, and simple stays rather than paid attractions.
