My name is Michael, and I am a French writer looking for information on overland travel between Lethem and Georgetown around 1982-1983. I've read that you could fly from Lethem to Georgetown at that time, but I would like to know more about the (dirt) roads and rivers that could be traveled at that time. For example, were truck journeys frequent, long, and complicated? Were the trails accessible year-round, and what did the trucks carry? Were hitchhikers accepted, or was it possible to pay for one's own fare? As for river travel, which rivers were navigable, and how far? Etc.
