We are in Vietnam and Cambodia in Sept / Oct. Visiting both countries and also hearing the US dollar is welcome, looking for advice on what currency we should be taking?

Also, we often take limited cash and use ATMS, How accessible are these?

Itinerary is Ho Chii Minh / Pnom Penh / Siem Reap/ Hoi An / Hue / Hanoi / Halong Bay

Thank you

You shouldn't have any problems finding ATMs in Vietnam and Cambodia. When I was in Cambodia the ATMs dispensed US dollars. Most tourist places only accept US dollars. You sometimes get change in Riel (local currency). I don't believe the situation has changed as I read on another site Cambodia was more expensive because most places give prices in US dollars.

In Vietnam the Dong is the preferred currency.

Locals accept US dollars, except in remote mountain villages and small street restaurants in the countryside, so, better change into dong VND : 1$ = 23 400 VND. In large towns, many top restaurants gives you a bill in VND and USD

NO ATM in Halong Bay,
