Hi, I am planning to spend this winter in India. Mid-November to mid-February. Can anyone enlighten me as to which is the best way to get connected via a mobile phone? I will be using data to book transport and to stay in touch with friends and family Would buying a local sim and installing that have any issues with connecting to my Facebook and Whatsapp contacts? Has anyone used an Esim? any opinions on the pros and cons would be appreciated. TIA

I don't know specifically about India, but I did buy a SIM for the country I was going to online. I had an older phone at the time, so an e-sim wouldn't work. If you just need the phone for data, then getting esim is probably the way to go. You get it in your home country so there is no messing about when you arrive.
I would imagine that it is probably easy to get a local SIM in India when you arrive also if you need a local number.
