I trekked out of Vieng Phoukha Laos in about 2005, again 2017 and now Nov 23. I had wonderful experiences each time. This aarea still has not been discovered and over run with tourists. The Khmu villages I visited in Nov. 23 have rarely seen tourists. Somhak Kompasom is a Khmu so had great repore with the villagers and also was able to give a good history of their traditions. We took a 4 wheel drive vehicle on some bad roads off the beaten path so this 81 yr old only had to walk a few miles. Great experience!! And I have had many treks in Nepal, Thailand, Laos.
